PRIVATE LESSON

A private lesson is a great way to get additional coaching on the skills that you are learning in our group lessons. It is also for individuals who want to commit to mastering figure skating skills, or pursue competitive figure skating.

Private lessons are one-on-one instruction. Private lessons are held during public ice skating sessions and freestyle sessions for high-level figure skaters. Be sure to check our most up-to-date schedules for public ice skating and freestyle sessions. Private lessons can not be accommodated outside of these times.

How it works

Fill out the private lesson request form below. In two to four weeks, a coach will contact you to schedule a private lesson time with you, or the Lesson Director will get back to you about your time availability.

By sending a private lesson request form below, you agree to and are subject to the payments and policies listed below in addition to the policies set by the Fairfax Ice Arena and the coach:

Payments

  • The public skate session admission fee and skate rental fee, or freestyle session fee. These fees must be paid PRIOR to getting on the ice for public session to have a private lesson. Admission and skate rental for public skating session must be paid at the Box Office before entering and getting on the ice for your private lesson. For freestyle sessions, please create an account online to purchase your freestyle session admission. Spaces are limited for freestyle sessions and customers are advised to register in advance. Once a freestyle session is full, a skater may not be added onto that session. Please speak with the Lesson Office if you need assistance with the freestyle session platform.
  • The coach's private lesson fee for the scheduled lesson must be paid on the day of your lesson through the online platform designated by Fairfax Ice Arena. At the rink, there is a self-service kiosk available for customers to use in making private lesson payments. It is located to the left of the Lesson Office. If you have any questions or need assistance, please see staff at the Lesson Office or the Box Office. For inquiries about your account and payments, please email officemanager@fairfaxicearena.com.
  • Late fees for a no-show and for scheduled lessons that are not cancelled with your coach 24 hours in advance. Cancellations with your coach must be submitted directly to your coach in writing (text or email).

Policies

  • Full payments for a prescheduled private lesson are due on the day of your scheduled private lesson and must be made on the online platform designated by Fairfax Ice Arena.
  • Private lessons must be cancelled or rescheduled 24 hours in advance directly with your coach in writing (text or email).
  • Late fee payments are due for no-shows, lessons that were not cancelled 24 hours in advance directly with your coach in writing (text or email).
  • Skaters who are late for their scheduled private lessons must pay for the full scheduled lesson coach's fee.
  • Failure to make payments after a private lesson was taken may result in additional fees, collection, and a ban from Fairfax Ice Arena until payments are made.

If you have any questions regarding your accounts or payments only, email officemanager@fairfaxicearena.com.

Submit a private lesson request

  • To submit a private lesson request with an instructor, please visit the Lesson Office

  • Select as many days and times that you are available. The more availability you have the more likely we are able to match you with a coach's availability. We will follow up with you in three to four weeks (minimum) to confirm a scheduled time or inquire more about your availability
  • After you have had your first private lesson with a coach, scheduling future private lessons will then be between you and the coach.
  • If after your first private lesson with a coach, you would like to try a different coach, please contact lessons@fairfaxicearena.com.

PLEASE NOTE: Availabilities are limited. Our instructors may already have full schedules, especially during our peak season in the fall, winter through early spring months, during a Winter Olympic season, and months leading up to competition season and our annual I.S.I. Competition in May.
